Imperial Special Operation Knights often called Shadow Knights were Imperial Knights given training as Special Operation Troopers in addition to their normal Imperial Knight training. Where a Knight was his Hand. A Shadow Knight was His eyes, ears, hands, and will. They went one missions where the skill set of a normal Knight would just not suffice.

An Imperial Special Operation Knight's duties made them in essence, the Emperor's spies, assassins, and observers. They would go on secret missions to obtain data, remove obstacles, kill political, economical, and other forms of individuals who threatened the Emperor and the Empire. But one of their Most important was to operate in secret as Special Operations troopers within the Stormtrooper corp and Imperial Army and report to the Emperor directly on the actions, trends, and moral of the troops. They were Warriors, Knights, Guards, Spies, Assassins, and Liaison officers all at once.

Special Operations Imperial Knight Armor
The Special Operations Armor of Imperial Special Operation Knights reflected their nature and duty to the Emperor. Where a Knight was his Emperor's Hands, a SpecOps Knight was his Eyes, Ears, Hands, and an extension of his will. They operated much like the Shadow Guards of the past. Unlike normal Knight Armor, the entire SO armor is lightsaber resistant, and also unlike the Knight Armor, the Gauntlet lacks the proper material weave to disrupt a lightsabers operation.
